Strap lug for my Canonet QL17 GIII

Don't know if it belongs here, but if it is in the wrong place I hope the mods will change the location...

I have a Canon Canonet QL17 GIII, but one of the strap lugs is missing. Does anybody know a place to get a spare one? I searched with Google, but couldn't find one.....

Hi Rense, not sure how similar they are but how about looking for a non-functioning camera on eBay and using that as a donor for a lug?

eg (from the UK) Canon Canonet QL25 Rangefinder camera. Spares/Repair. Boxed. | eBay

Depending on which side it is on you might find attaching the strap to one side is actually better for handling anyway

That's a good idea Hamish. And it is one of the things about the Mamiya 7II - it has lugs in the normal place and two on one side which is a much more natural way for the camera to hang and makes it much 'quicker' to use.

Looking at the QL17

And looking at it with the top removed

The lugs are accessible. The strap lugs on this camera are held in by long screws that are visible once you have the top cover removed.

Then comparing with the cheaper 28

They look like they could be the same - so Pete's idea of buying a cheap dead camera for parts would be worth a shot.

If the screw threads are stripped or loose, you could use some screw-lock on re-assembly to keep things tight
