Sunday Morning Braid Hills Edinburgh

Rob MacKillop

What a beautiful morning. Best day of the year thus far.

I filled the Konica Hexar with some SXF film, and will be sending that off this week to get developed. I also took the D700, just in case...but its battery ran out after a dozen shots. Just as well I brought the Hex.

I live in the north of Edinburgh, and the Braid Hills are in the far south, so it's a ten-minute bus ride followed by a 40-minute bus ride. Worth the effort, though. The observatory is on top of the hill, and I think the Hex covered that. After such miserable weather of late, I'm not going to say I wished there were some clouds in the sky!

Developed in LR6. In no particular order:

Excellent Rob. Gorgeous here also, a nice brisk chilled ENE wind to dry the air of blue skies.
I like the way the seats reflection stands out in the first shot, the last is familiar and for that I am enjoying it, the reeds is a fine image also a good set.

I like the last one best, I think. Weird rock formations up there, didn't expect in the cold north, I guess....

Ah, thank you! Probably, one day, I'll visit Edinburgh and see it with my own eyes. Googled foor the Braid Hills and I see they're completely overgrown with gorse....:D Completely yellow.....

A very nice set, Rob and your pleasure really show through I think. Some great reflections (and is that a bit of tripod, blurry stuff too?). I like the shot through the reeds very much but the last is my favourite. Great light and a nice sense of place.

When I grow up, I want to be just like you. :) The last is a fascinating shot. It's a view of Edinburgh I've never seen in a photo. Among the others, I also like the one through the reeds and the one two spots above that, which looks like it was shot from near the same position, just higher pov.

BTW, we've got some decent weather too. It's in the mid-50's and headed to near 60f today. A couple of days ago, we get a winter storm and cold weather and more snow coming by mid-week, but a nice 3-day break between the two bouts of cold weather. I'm hoping it is winter's last gasp.

I like the first, the second and, oh what the heck, they are all good in their own sense. Glad you are up and about old man with the heavy stuff. The D700 shall give much pleasure I know.

Terrific set of images, Rob. Hard to decide which one I like best. They're all excellent. Perhaps the last one is my fave. The light is beautiful.
