Hi Rob

As photographers we can spend a lot of time chasing light and you have captured this wonderfully. Was this in Edinbugh? I was there earlier in the year, what great city the architecture is something special. I was there photographing the Rock and Roll marathon.

Thanks, guys. I knew I was facing the sunlight, but I didn't really see the rays until I uploaded it to the laptop. I darkened them in Levels, just a wee bit, and ditto contrast, then put a frame on via Nik colour. Used the Velvia setting in the X100.

The whole area is great for photography, and only ten minutes walk from my house. Yes, Steve, it's in Edinburgh, just ten minutes again from Princess Street. Next time you are here, drop me a line, and I'll take you to it if you have the time.

I mentioned earlier in the post I was there to photograph the Rock and Roll marathon on the Sunday, but on the Saturday we managed to do a photo-shoot called "Mr Boxhead in Edinburgh"

It consisted of taking some fun photos around Edinburgh. I have posted a link if you wanted to have a look. Mr Boxhead - a set on Flickr

All the images were taken with the X100 and processed with Nik silver efex pro with fun in mind

Wish I'd had my camera earlier this evening when walking through town. Madonna is playing in Edinburgh tonight, and the place is inundated with 40 and 50-somethings dressed as they were back in the 80s. It all looks rather sad.

I've just been told that I managed to catch a crepuscular ray...which is great, because I specifically left the house this morning wondering if I would catch a crepuscular ray
