I got a few Swallow shots before they start to head off for their wintering grounds.

They are nice, but that first one is a proper goodun... I coulndt even begin to take something like that I don't think!
That 1st one is such a nice shot, nice to see something other then a bird on a branch etc. for a person like me who wouldn't know a cat from a elephant it's nice.
What shutter speed is require to get such a spot on amount of movement?

Here's the Exif from the first shot, but I must say first of all, for me it's more luck than judgement:eek:.

Shot in Aperture priority mode and f5.6 for the fastest speed for the given light.

Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) 1/640 second
Lens F-Number / F-Stop ƒ/5.6
ISO Speed Ratings 400
Aperture ƒ/5.6
Flash Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
Focal Length 400 mm
That first shot is Nat Geo material - great timing!
amazing stuff glen, you are really putting THAT L lens to very good use......!! The detail and of course timing is perfect for all these images, especially as mentioned above that 1st image is brilliant.......!!
