Visited Wicken Fenn today, its about a hours drive from me. Didn't have very long there but plan to return soon for a bit of an all dayer. Managed to get some nice shots but must admit I'm struggling with the close ups of bugs. They seem out of focus even with the tripod. I think it might be partly due to the focusing screen. My old 35mm film SLR had a split prism which made focusing very accurate. The Nikon just has this annoying green blob in the bottom of the screen and it doesn't seem very accurate. I think my next shots will be of a ruler at 45 degs so I can see if there's a prob in the camera or if it's just me!
I know swans are white by the way but in strong sunlight its real difficult to get them exposed properly. Fiddling with the photo on the PC got all the detail on the feathers but gave them a slight grey tinge! The brown one is obviously a juvenile and not a complete Photoshop disaster.
