The Corner of Geary and Powell by brian-moore, on Flickr

San Francisco, California. Taken from my perch near the top of the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. The building on the right is the Westin Hotel. The Westin dates from 1904 and was originally The St. Francis Hotel. It was at the St. Francis that the Fatty Arbuckle scandal took place in 1921. Union Square is lower left. Hand held--actually steadied atop a wall, albeit clearly not so well. (It was blustery up there, SF getting a stiff breeze off the Bay.)

(I also posted this image to the Blog page--hope that's OK.)

Nice. I quite like the tiny bit of movement and nice that you've put the buildings into context. I watched a programme on the BBC iPlayer the other day by Paul Merton that covered the Arbuckle scandal in detail so it's nice to see a picture of it. Thanks.

Thanks a lot, Pete. I wonder if the room the scandal took place in is still there and if so whether it's commemorated in some way.

Love the retro feel of the shot :)

There is some great shots in that streem! Some of the ballet ones are fantastic!
That "handing out the snow stage left" is really nice
