Tanburi Rob

People who play the Turkish tanbur often receive the designation Tanburi before their first name. So, here's Tanburi Rob, posing like a leek, as we say here.

Here I am playing a student piece (I'll forever be a student of this monstrously difficult instrument) - but I have a halo above my head!

Here's how it should be played:

These are very fine photoes Rob. Like the aesthetics as well it is what the foveon does produce and nice to see the Quattro carrying this unique signature forward. As I'd say you do with your instruments. I have not listened to the videos all the way through but will look back when I have that relaxed time to do so.
The touch of sepia works very well.

Cheers, Julian. Not a tanbur player yourself? You think you know someone
No not a player now. I did play wind instruments to an ok standard a long time ago. But have family members and their friends who make a living this way so would never attempt to join in these days. I just tap my foot :D

A very good portrait series of an instrument and its player. The word leek pronounced the same way in Norway means something else Rob and you certainly look very much alive here, - to me!:D

You're a saint for trying Rob. The first two pictures are very well done, with you and the tanbur emerging from the darkness. The first one is especially appealing as you appear to be reflecting on the sound you are producing.
