The Cracks are Showing

Again, just playing around, but this is the cross-sectional face of a piece of Ulexite taken using a 16x objective under incident DIC on the MeF2. When I have a proper camera on the system I will try to get an image that combines this with the mineral's own unique optical trick! The made for quite a pretty and absorbing image though I thought.

It is indeed pretty and absorbing. I'd offer it to Roger Waters for his next album cover. Strange new worlds are all around us, we just need to know how to view them, and now you do. I look forward to seeing more in a similar vein.

Thanks, Rob. I'll give him a call!

I've recently bought some antique mineral sections that should be interesting and I have quite a few Victorian prepared slides which I think I'll revisit. I can feel some composite images coming on - "The Paramecium's Wedding", for example!
