Benghazi is considered buy many to be the centre of the fight for freedom. It is the major city on the east side of the country. However when I was there last February I heard that serious fighting started further east in Torbruk and Baida. This was before journalists got into the country and some of the early incidents where not reported. I presume this building used to be a police station or other office of authority. It is now an exhibition dedicated to the war and includes a mish mash of Libyan artwork and crafts.
This is quite an impressive sculpture made of helmets that have had faces cut into them with an acetylene torch.
The helmets are also scattered around the place.
Not really sure of the significance of the masks, maybe some local craft.
It's pretty dim inside and my pocket camera, a Nikon P7000 doesn't have the greatest of low light performance.
This place was obviously laid siege to during the uprising.
There are also loads of sculptures made from wreckage of military vehicles, some of it quite quirky.
