Now there's a damn fine set. The highlights for me a are iPlod (if not just for the title), 60103, and Bonnet Lady (she just jumps out of the frame. I like the modern cooker too. And overall the flow people around the train (especially, Coal) - if only they were dressed more for the occasion! Only one hat in sight!

Cheers, Pete. It has been a crazy two days. Network Rail announced yesterday the were cancelling the Scottish run, as they hadn't been able to calculate if the tunnels were wide enough. They had TWO YEARS to plan this run! Everyone here was really angry with them, and they got a lot of stick, not just from folks like me ranting online, but from politicians too. No one believed their story. Of course the tunnels are wide enough! So, this morning they apologised, and said it would run, but they wouldn't tell us when. So, I went along to Waverley on the off chance I might see it - and there it was, readying for departure. I was as much interested in the people as the engine itself, but it is certainly beautiful up close.

This evening it will cross the famous Forth Bridge, but unfortunately I have work to do - painting the hall for the second time this weekend!

That is a wonderful set of pictures! You have captures the atmosphere and nostalga of the event perfectly. Well done!

Cheers, Dave. I thought black and white would help strengthen the nostalgia feel, which was certainly all around. It's a beautiful engine, but difficult to get close enough to due to the Selfie Brigade being out in full force!

Brilliant set... I really love the ones with motion blur in the crowd, especially bonnet lady.

And the shots of the engine. And the reflections. And the... :)

Thanks, Brian. I've been a bit disappointed by the number of rather boring photos I've seen of the engine. I thought it was begging for black and white. And the people milling around it were so interesting too. I'm sorry I never got a shot of it crossing the Forth Bridge, but I would have needed a zoom lens to do it justice.
