The Llangollen

Back on the cut again, though a little more recent than the last pics. 1st, the entrance of the Ellesmere Tunnel, then our boat moored up down on the Montgomery. The Monty is as quiet and peaceful as the Llangollen is busy and rather lovely, how the canals were back in the 70s / early 80s before ‘word got out’.

Minox 35ML, Kentmere 400, lab processed in Xtol, scanned with Panasonic GX1 & Componon 50mm f4.

Sadly my little Minox doesn’t behave as well as it used to. This jaunt on the ‘Cut’ was the first time I’d used it for quite some time. As the holiday progressed, the shutter speed indication in the viewfinder became rather unpredictable, indicating the camera was in programme mode when in fact an individual aperture had been selected. The shutter itself seemed to fire ok at the appropriate speeds, but it was guesswork as to what the speed actually was. Such a shame as it’s a great little camera. May look into whether there’s anyone who specialises in servicing them at some point. I bought it new back in the early 90s.

A small selection of images of the Llangollen taken on my 6D.

Thanks, chaps. I'm afraid I always get a bit snap-happy on these trips, but then, there’s almost always so much to point a lens at. Apologies if I got a bit carried away with the number of images above 🥴 It doesn’t take much for me to be one of those folks of yesteryear who puts on a slide show for friends and family and projects box after box of piccies 😃😀🙂😐😑😴😴🥴😏
Next time, something different, I promise 😊
Speaking of slide projection, recently we finally started having a look at slides my wife and I took when on honeymoon in the US. It’s only taken us nearly 30 years to finally get round to putting them up on the big screen. First time I’ve had my projector out since our boys were small. There’s still something special about seeing projected transparencies 🤩

Thanks, Dave🙂much appreciated.

@Rob MacKillop ok, that makes me feel better ☺️. A crackin’ set, Sir! We visited the Bo’ness when our boys were small and we had a holiday in the Edinburgh area. Btw, with your collection of images, you still hadn’t reached the ‘box too far’ lol. Great selection of pics.

Well, I had to have a look for the photos I took on that holiday as my memory of it was decidedly vague )I couldn’t even remember exactly when we went). I’m glad I did, as there are loads, mostly half- or completely forgotten. The only one that would have been looked at slightly more recently is a view of Loch Voil (iI think) that I had printed to A2 size and framed for my Mum to hang over her mantle piece. I may have to take a closer look at ‘em - be warned! lol
