In this case though the isolated flowers work nicely ...

what a great comp - putting the poppies in front of the old tatty building

Very effective PP with the highlighting of the red flowers and the HD quality on the building and sky

I agree with Hamish, the PP has worked especially well on the flowers they could be nice image themselves I think. However, having them in front of the building does make an interesting contrast.
