Pete, these two images bring back so many memories. My daughter and I traveled from Beijing to Moscow on the Tran Siberian Train a couple of years ago and I've never seen such busy railways. The trains with huge numbers of tanks behind seemed to take so long to pass by the window.
I really like that you took these with the seat unoccupied and you captured the speed so well. Fantastic colouring again.

I think we both have quite a collection of "from the train" shots now, Pete. We should meet at the end of a platform someday and trade them. Swapsies. These two are fine examples.

Thank you all. A good point there Tom as continental European (and I can imagine, trans continental) train journeys are different to the UK. Much more freight is moved and the routes are often busier. This particular line links some of the northern ports with eastern Europe and carries a mixture of local, regional, interregional and international trains. On this particular day the light was quite special and I really loved the contrast between the interior of our compartment and the world outside; calm vs rush; bright light vs subdued - the world did seem divided into two parts; we were separated by that window in more ways than physically.

We actually had the compartment to ourselves and seat 76 should have been Ina's but she was sitting next to me. I have a few more from the journey that I will post later today I hope.

They take pride in their trains and their stations are architecturally stunning and it is a very important part of the transport infrastructure. Not run down like here.
Look forward to seeing them Pete.

Liking the line curving to the distance in #2 Pete - and the more complete seat 76

What's in the plastic bag, Pedro? (I'm guessing its yer carry-oot! :D)

Nice shots the pair of them. Delightful colors and the curved track into the distance is so nice to look at.

Strong colours and placement work really well in these two images and compliment each other well.

Very often did the train guard from Berlin to Helmstedt, stopping at Potsdam and Marienborne, we used to swop stuff with the Russians. Big tank laager somewhere along the line with hundreds of T72 s lined up.
