First time ive been out with the camera for a while ... really enjoyed it until i got back and realised my god damn nikon d3 has god damn packed in again!!!!
off to Lehmanns with that tomorrow, minimum charge £210 yay!

Nice set there Hamish!
I should of been there for the sea cadets... Thanks for standing in for me! :D

Excellent Hamish - good celeb shots and crowd scene setters - told the story nicely

Beth beat me to it with the punchline :D

Cheers Beth ... yeah, I think so ... it was a nice day actually, lots of nice people around. Got chatting to all the people around me as we waited for the Queen to show up. The chap behind me was into his photography, so that was nice!

Cheers Pete, yeah, I liked the blue interior, very regal i thought ... bit of pp to balance the light and sharpen it and its come out a treat i think!
The bin men got as much of a cheer as the queen did!

Cheers Dan and Chris...
Canon ... Nah, it would probably leak light or give me some sort of allergic reaction (see resent canon release issues for reference ;))

I like it too Dave, it sums up the business of the moment etc ... I still want a good shot of her though ;)

This I love!

Great set, Hamish. I especially like the one where Prince P's right eyeball is framed by the crook between his right thumb and forefinger. That shot's a cracker! The next one, of the queen, is also very good. She's not just waving and smiling here,...you really get a sense from the look on her face that there is something going through her mind that is distracting her. Well,...that's what I see in it anyway.

Lovely set of images, Hamish!

I saw these earlier on Flickr & think they're great. I'm not sure if it's the photographer, camera, lens or all 3 working together, but they've got a real pop to them! All really nicely composed & captured & it looked a great day from the images! I did quite like one you've not put up here, the shot of the Queen in the car from a step back & very nicely framed by the car window frame!

Great work, mate! Shame the camera needs looking at, though.

Cheers Paul and Brian ...
i like the people through the back window in the Phil shot Brain, I wondered if that chap with a camera phone has a photo of me ...

To be honest, that's the response I was hoping for, thank you!!!
it is a pp technique I've been working on ... Pop is very much the desired effect! I worn my self out with trying to did a "unique" style and now find satisfaction in te style coming through in the compo rather than the look! The look for me, recenty at least has become about trying to get the most "real"/semi film like, with a hint of what I like about digital look! Sharpness without hardness has become central to this ... Some of these look harder than inwoud have liked, but I'm making inroads into getting it right!
Ive actually driven my self a bit potty with my photography of late - why you haven't seen much, and why I haven't commented much - I have also been busy with work which hasnt helped ...
Ive come to the conclusion that there is no "unique" look left ... I can't find anything that I don't feel I am just copying somthing... I go through this periodically with varying outcomes ...
This time the outcome is that I want to concentrate on raw photography ... Pointing it in te right direction at the right time ... The pp element is now just about giving the image depth ...
Lr4 has actually helped a lot ... It's a lot more powerful, and as such you have to be more subtle with it... The wrong control at the wrong time brings out so much more noise than previous versions did. This initially bothered me, but now it just makes me think a lot more about the controls and the effect they have!
I can't work out of any of this is good or bad ... Photography drives me absolutely nuts (I think I sound nuts explaining this stuff) ... But when it drives me as nuts as it is at the mo and has done many times before, I always come out te other side with new found confidence in the quality of what I do...
Its just when it's happening, I end up wittering all this nonsense about it ;)
