Cheers both... Yes, that's it Brian...
I'm off digital for a bit Brian ... I seem to go through these phases periodically ... This one just seems to be lasting longer than usual. I just take more photos I'm more happy with with film ...
Really good comp., Hamish. I'm a bit scared of getting close to the Shard, not being a fan of tall structures. The Eiffel Tower is another that really scares me. If I were God, we'd all live in bungalows.
You should move to Lanzarote, there are hight laws for buildings there ... I'm not sure how well they areadhered to these days, but at one stage 4 stories was an absolute limit I think. This guy made it a law I think - César Manrique - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (all dredged from memory so excuse me if it turns out to be nonsense )
Aaaaannnnyyywayyy ... Cheers I like tall buildings as it goes
Great stuff Hamish, really nice. I was there yesterday having a mooch around with the Fuji GS645S but I don't think got anything as wonderful as this. Still getting used to it really. I find there is a bit of barrel distortion and the wider angle didn't let me get all of the shots I wanted. I think I was much more successful shooting bleak rural landscapes in the snow.
Excuses excuses
same deal with the Ricoh, but I find the wide angle really comfortable for walking around ... Some it suits, some it doesn't I think. For me, it provides a fov that gives impact without to much distortion. Nice broad dof even wide open too ... If I had to choose a single fov it would be that provided by a 28mm lens I think. I'd attribute any success I had in London to that comfort as much as anything else cheers though... I assume you are going to persevere with the fuji though :/
Did someone take Dr Who too seriously last night? Anyway, would you mind staying just where you are so we can upload you successfully. We would hate to miss a bit in the data transfer.
I just realised that my comment about the barrel distortion is a complete verbal turd. It is a rangefinder and I am not looking through the lens! It is just the viewfinder that has the pronounced distortion (hopefully).
Hahahahhhahahahaaa ... No idea what your on about Pete
i was going to say I don't remember any barrel distortion, but I can't remember any photos with straight edges. I think it will be fine!! The Ricoh has a tiny tiny smudge of it ... I just process it out if it shows
you're going to die now, within 24 hours. the kislet group on floor 65 will get you now. from now on you'll be part of the wifi. lol, nice timing for this shot. last night was my first introduction to the building and now you've gone and posted this.
