The Twisted Trees

X100 with PP in Topaz B&W

#2's a cracker, Chris. The upper reaches of the branches get lost in darkness and I'm not sure about that, but maybe it just adds to the effect. I really like the sun peeking aroon the tree trunk. Looks to me like you got the horizon perfectly straight, which is a feat I am seldom able to accomplish.

Thanks chaps - lots of lovely lighting yesterday and that makes for interesting images I think.

Brian, I did use the auto level in the X100, which get's it pretty damn close - I then always use the level in Adobe's RAW converter to get it spot-on.

Pete - took a dozen or more shots of that weathered wood to get the shot I wanted - different angles, DOF, and then waiting for the light to kick-in as the sun came out from behind a cloud. The whole tree is full of holes, and looks completely dead.

Love the first image. I might take a look at flipping it horizontally to see what that looks like?
Nice image there Chris.

Nice images Chris, liking the first one a lot

That's my vignette again Hamish - might have to tone it down a little
