Theatrics at the Pier

Took these in Huntington Beach last weekend with my newest camera, a Canon T70. I used a Canon 28mm FD lens and Ilford Pan F+ film (50 asa) which I processed in Rodinal.

Beach POV Clearly the show didn't excite everyone.

Another nice set! I like the different POV. That pier looks a great place for capturing a few images. I doubt the guy in image 1 will be taking any sneaky stuff with that lens!

Thanks Alfie. There was a few people with cameras, but none did I see so obvious at that fellow. As usual, I was the only one shooting film as far as I could tell. :)

That guy in the last one looks like a victim of a drive-by shooting!!!.

Love the fact you persist with film. It makes all your images look more real, somehow. Great contributions to this site, Brian!
Funny how film has a different quality about it. Sometimes its hard to put your finger on exactly what it is. I saw a comment from some guy on Flickr a while back. He said digital images remind him of what he saw, whereas images captured on film are like hi memories. Or something like that. It made sense to me anyway. Thanks for your comments, Rob.

Good observation on film Brian - I know what you mean though but it's difficult to define.

Great set of shots too and I love the framing of the first shot especially. And the last is super. Stick, arm, lamp! :)

Thanks a lot, Pete.

I guess it might deserve a thread of its own but what is this difference between digital and film? People mention it often but like we have observed, it's hard to define. Certainly there is crispness and clarity in digi shots that can be off-putting to film photogs. And yet, some of those same film photogs strive for the best glass to achieve the highest quality of crispness in their images.

When I see a good digi shot with some blur or something--I'm thinking now about Rob's shot from the other day that shows the blur of a passing cyclist--I think there is yet hope for digital cameras.

Yep - the last one is a corker - so twilight zone!
