Three from DC

I'm spending the week visiting my grandson in Washington DC. Here's three pics from our first few days here.

Grandma Nan and Henry playing in the fountain in the National Botanic Gardens. The main thing is to not let the groundskeeper catch you.

Washington Monument covered in scaffolding while they repair earthquake damage. There's three guys at the level of the elevator on the shady side of the monument but they're pretty hard to see.

Nice series Ralph...Really like the first.
lived there for 20 years and go back a couple of times a year and find I like it much more than when I lived there.
They are finally really fixing the monument!

I lived in the DC area way back in 1971 when I was in the Army and stationed here. It's a whole lot different now. Many things better like the subway and bus system but the whole area is a lot more built up now so that's not so good.

My daughter visited the Mall when the cherry blossoms were out. My son in law has a photo of the Washington Monument showing the scaffolding only 2/3rds up the obelisk. No it's to the top. So looks like the actual work has begun or will begin soon. Not sure how long it will take though.

Nancy and I take our grandson to the Botanic Gardens every time we come. The pictures we take will show how he changes with pretty much the same scenery in the background. In a few more years he will be five and I'll try to put up photos of his first five years visiting the gardens. If I remember.
