That really is very film-like Rob. I have yet to try mine at higher ISOs. And a nice shot as well (although I can imagine that Susan will not be so keen). As Tom says, the concentration comes over well. And there's that picture in the background again!

Tom, that's my wife, Susan, on the right, and our daughter, Rhona, on the left. Susan is wearing a Tintin tee-shirt, which I bought her after her translation of a Tintin book into Scots was published.
Here they are booking Rhona's accommodation at Northumbria University, where she will be doing a design degree after the summer.

How interesting Rob. Pat my wife is a recently retired librarian and took it upon herself to set up and maintain a Graphic Novels section in her library when it was not too fashionable. She is still an avid reader and collector of the GN. When you say Scots I presume you mean Scots Gaelic?
Your photograph will be really relevant in years to come when ye are looking back to the time your daughter started in Uni. Northumbria Uni almost shares a campus with Newcastle Uni and that's where Aisling, my eldest, did her degree. I used to love going up to Newcastle and I loved the local people. Aisling had happy years there too. You'll miss Rhona when she goes (your home will suddenly appear eerily empty) but nowadays with Skype etc she will always be in the home, albeit on a screen. I hate to think what it must have been like for parents before the internet and it's benefits. I wish her well.

I think I know how Dave feels. What is it about film? Well,...I don't know if I can always identify that "film" look,...but for me it's about lack of razor sharpness; delightful OOF; bonnie bokeh; dreamlike v realitylike.

As for fitba - I was born in Dundee, but had my primary school years in Manchester, at the time of George Best, Bobby Charlton, Dennis Law, etc, etc. That scars a person for life - in a positive way, of course. However, once we came back tae Dundee, well, it just wasn't the same, as you might imagine. I lost interest in the game, but still kept an eye on Man Utd. With Rhona in Newcastle, I see the possibility of paying g a visit and going to Tynecastle to see Newcastle v. Man U. Should be fun. Rhona really fancies it.

My youngest sister went to Newcastle uni and stayed, a wonderful city. The visits I have there are always positive, other than a wee bit chilly.

Not as chilly as Edinburgh, I imagine. Thanks, Julian. She will be doing Design, and has been encouraged to keep her botanical art work going, hopefully feeding it into her design ideas. We shall see. She also got an offer from Goldsmiths, which will be her second choice. The Goldsmiths course is more on the conceptual side of design - the crazier the idea the better - but she fancies the Northumbria course more. Northumbria Design School is now rated 3rd in Europe, I'm informed. We paid it a visit - looks great. And closer to home!

Well where ever she goes hopefully it will be fruitful. We were doing this last year and choices are not easy. At least being at Northumberland Rhona can pop home when she wishes and not overly expensive either on the practical side and choosing a course that fits seems preferable to choosing a Uni.
