Lol !! Dan I would watch the filters on the old ruski masks if it's in good nik you will be fine but a used one can still be contaminated as the gas deposits ferment through the charcoal filter over time, chances are your fine tho!!!

That's the one hamish, based on the ww2 brittish civilian gas mask, those are really freaky the used to have a trunk like hose from the mask going to the filter box that would be attached to the belt of the wearer,

The ww2 British army ones are ace!!! Cost a fair bit tho! Wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of them. The one from dead mans shoes is the soviet Russian mask without the filter, the one that only cost me 15 quid, unlike the British army one costing three times more!

Just had a look on ebay for gas masks and these gas masks look unusual, almost like a dogs head or something off star wars

Yeah those where the Russian spetsnaz regulation gas mask, the troops superseded it themselves for how uncomfortable it was and the lenses offered minimum visibility, spetsnaz troops actually favoured the British s10 (what I Have). They were quickly de-comed an sold as surplus, the s&m Market has a huge Market for those things!!! ...... I think hahaha!!!! Pete I would love that!!!!!! I would stick 60quid on it no probs any idea what era it's from?

Dan, I guess it would have been mid '80s. I was very temped by a nice pair of welding goggle but they wanted too much and I can probably find something in a flea market in Berlin much cheaper. Need to go and have a rummage! But first it is Venetian masks!!
