Tranquility?

This was taken in the meditational area of a Monastery in Switzerland which had an amazingly tranquil feel to it. So I decided that what it needed was a hint of menace! I was trying to get to a point where the building surrounding this orchard felt like a sanctuary from the real world. Not sure I have managed it yet though.

Works for me. The way the trees are leaning in and towards the building provide a sense of encroachment. I get the feeling if that you look away or blink, they will edge a little closer. The real world has shadows, but the contemplative world does not - judging from this image.

Good one, Pete.

Just to be awkward, that does have an air of menace to me, but the other way round. The dark woods looks mysterious and interesting, the whitewashed walls remind me of an old assylum. I would long to escape into the woods!

Well, what do you expect from a tree-hugger. :D

I think a topless nun in the window would finish it off nicely - but that's just me going off on a tangent! :D

Has a Midwich Cuckoos feel to it Pete - very nice and creepy

I did ask, Chris, but they'd all been booked by some bloke in California! ;)
