Critique Welcomed Truck And Fog

This image appeals to me, but I'm not sure why. It seems rather mundane. I thought I'd post it and see if it appeals to anyone else. Last week I posted a picture of the same truck from the same angle using my new Fuji Instax 210. This one I shot with the Canon F1 and FD17mm lens, using Kodak Tri-X film that I processed in Rodinal.

Any opinions/critique are welcome.

the subject is mundane and simple, but the composition is interesting enough to grab your attention and make you take a better look. i like the line of the fence/truck and boat leading you back to the lone tree in the background. and the misty trees on the left are pretty cool too.

Thanks Beth. I appreciate that you took the time to let me know what you saw that appeals.

Yeah, its absolutely appealing ... I do have a thing for black and white photos shot in the mist though! The wide angle adds to the bleak!
You seem to be good with a 17mm lens Brian, framing well without using the lens in the ott way people often use a wide lens

Thanks, Hamish!

Almost - I like the composition, atmosphere and exposure, but the jet ski trailer kind of kills it for me. If it was just the truck, the sense of solitude would be a lot stronger and work with the foggy ambience better. Ideally the dumpster behind the trailer wouldn't be there either. It's not bad, but it misses greatness for me.

Of course, what the hell do I know?...

That 17mm lens is a yummy performer!
And..... Of course the operator!
Nice one Bri... :)

I like it. What appealed to me is the sweeping lines from right to left implied by the fence and trees and then the lines of the truck sweeping diagonally down, left to bottom. They seem to give the image a nice dynamic that contrasts with the softer mist. I hope that doesn't come across too "arty"
