Sony have relesed 2 new NEX range of cameras the NEX5N and NEX7.
For those who dont know, the NEX range are part of the fairly new class of interchangeable lens compact cameras.
The Flagship model the NEX7 looks to be somewhat of a beast of a camera within this market with its 24mp sensor, built in veiwfinder and flash, yet still remaining quite small.

it is also compatible with a game raising add on that allows full use of sonys slr mount lenses the LAEA2 which also enables phase detection autofocus.

It does strike me that by the time you have bought the camera and the add on you may have been better with the new stla77?, but i suppose at least this way you have the choice of compact or powerful within one camera ... you just need to own 2 sets of lenses to go along side it...
Nice idea, i think, but im not sure i entierly buy into the logic of it all... Still, its good to see Sony flexing those massive R&D muscles of theirs and coming out with some unusual kit that doesnt necessarily try and compete with Nikon and Canon - a wise choice in my view, as its a battle i fear they were possibly always destined to loose.
The NEX5n appears to be the slightly more consumer oriented model, Its basically a faster higher res touch screen version of the nex 5

They have also release three new lenses for the range
The Sonnar T* E24mm F1.8 ZA wide angle lens

The E50mm F1.8 portrait lens

And the E55-210mm F4.5-6.3 telephoto zoom lens

What strikes me most about all of these is there size... compared to the cameras they are intended for they are fairly massive! This is the biggest short coming of the NEX range for me. And having sold, and not sold, a few it is also the biggest short coming in the front line!
