Taken under Interstate 15 near Escondido CA - late afternoon

X-Pro1 and 60mm Lens @ f/8

I love the way the bridge has been cast in place with a built-in curve, as it passes over Lake Hodges.

The low sunshine is reflecting off what little water remains, and is bouncing up under the bridge.

Gorgeous light and a super composition Chris. I'd be tempted to crop to lose the residue of the con-trail though to leave a more 'solid' block of colour in the sky. What do you think?

I would suffer from the same temptation. That would leave a chunk of that lovely blue, retain the drawing of the eye to the end, and perhaps place more emphasis on the bit I love - that play of light under the bridges.

really love it though. The curves are gracious, almost sexy. I know, I know - I'm sad and lonely...

I should add that I'm not really qualified to comment, and would be really impressed with myself if I had captured and processed it just as it is.

Chris, this is a powerful composition with nice color and contrast. :) A blue gradual ND, I presume, a contribution to an already beautiful image.

nice I like it, nice gentle curves. I was trying to work out the strange reflection though, I would never have guessed it was the water.

Uh,...what are you doing under there, Chris? (Not your usual habitat is it?)

Nice one! I like the light colored banding on the underside of the concrete at the bottom of the fotie.

Thanks everyone :)

Well spotted Nihat and Paul - color grad filter used (NIK Color FX)

Rob - you are a WINNER! :D

Brian - it's a dangerous place to be - swarms of blood sucking mossies - and crazy mountain bikers not looking where they are going!

Pete & Stephen, I'm not sure about the crop idea - I like the con trail - two forms of transport crossing in space and time - or some bollocks like that! ;)

Vic & Stephen - the curve is where it's at for me - sexy? Not sure about that, but it does make for a lovely line.

Here's another perspective - no lake this time around - just a few puddles and a desolate wasteland of a lakebed

I like this one too! Particularly the left hand side where all the lines pull you in to the dark square in the distance.

Thanks Paul - I tried a few shots with the perspective as the main theme - (above) using the 14mm super wide which I didn't own on my last visit to this location.

This is another 60mm shot - more perspective based

I was hoping the lake would be full after recent rains - but no such luck :(

Good point about the two forms of transportation. More of a story.

The narrowing curve on the B&W image is really striking.

So many curves; the uprights are round, the roadway curves, the horizontal supports are curved. Compelling.

That's a really sexy shot to me. The orange works beautifully. Warm and sun-setty. Some water reflecting there. I find the blue a tad heavy though. It's a little less believable.

I know what you mean Barry - might take another pass at this one
