Urbex Twist

love these photos and I love photography in abandoned buildings.

I reeeeeeeeeeeaaallly want to go into some abandoned buildings & shoot some fun photos but since the state of california will not allow me to carry a fire-arm (I would most certainly point my barrel into someone's forehead if they tried to take my equipment in such an environment) I have not found it safe enough in most neighborhoods here where these buildings exist for me to take a gamble with my equipment :(

Haha! Kev & Ade, do you think I should put as a thread title 'Dan in Wonderland 18+..........) lol

Thanks chris, HDR would be great, I don't have any means to do so unless you know of a good and cheap, if not free HDR software you could recommend Chris?

if you lived anywhere near me I would load up your PC with so much software you would never have a curiosity left about any such thing haha

If you want to do proper multi-exposure HDR, Photmatix is the one that gets talked about a lot. It is a commercial product though not hugely expensive.
There is also a open-source program called Luminance, you could try. I can't vouch for either product..I've played with them but not taken it far enough to give a decent evaluation.

Photmatix HDR photography software & plugin for Lightroom, Aperture & Photoshop - Tone Mapping, Exposure Fusion & High Dynamic Range Imaging for photography
Luminance Luminance HDR

Thank you so much ade, when I get on the laptop tomorrow evening I'm going to do some research into these programs. Thanks guys :)

Dan I miss europe, it's been many many years since I was anywhere in europe and would certainly enjoy another visit, but until I book a dozen jobs in the next few months I won't have the financial means to take such a trip, perhaps one day :)

by the way photomatix is what I use as well, it's very straight forward and easy to use, see if you can get your hands on it

brilliant set, i have yet to break my UE virginity.........!!

I guess people are probably starting to see why I call him wierd Dan!

Dan, next time your going, let me know yeah!
Especially if your going round an old hospital!

Thanks guys!
Nice to see your back Brooksie! :)
No probs Hamish, it might have to be in a weeks time. But I'll defo let you know.
Bring some torches, if you've got any, these places I visit tend to be in complete darkness. Lol :)

These are really super Dan. You are coming out with some really interesting images lately, please don't stop! I also like the contrast where the 1st few are more documentary and could be in an article about UE and then all of a sudden you have the wonderfully weird images of you jumping out from the cupboard. With the lens distortion of the ultra wide angle lens its a bit like a regular course of events all of a sudden going very surreal.

Thanks for the comments Paul :)
I tried to describe the set as best as pos in the thread title, I think I could say there has been a level of success in some way. Lol
I know i might be performing a monotonous/same faced character evertime these sets are performed, however, I try to create a different scene/backround to make the image and feel a bit more interesting. I might expand in alternative angles and different lighting techniques. Maybe, sitting on a bench with the mask on in a busy pedestrianised town centre with hopeful efforts to capture peoples faces projecting an image of fear, or maybe just thinking to themselves.....WTF!!! :D :D

Although it would be interesting to record the reaction may I suggest that you stay away from Post Offices, Banks and Jewelry shops. I can imagine a few panic buttons being banged!

I don't think having the same Character is tiring at all. What I really liked was the images together formed a cohesive piece of work that had a narrative running through them. I think having them together really made it work better than if they were shown individually.
