Critique Welcomed Vertical Climb

Came across this image yesterday and, although I considered it a throw-away when I first processed it, yesterday I liked it.

It's from the Huntington Beach Airshow in 2018. I shot 3 rolls with my OM2n, Olympus 35-70 zoom with red filter (#29) and HP5. Processed in Rodinal.

Something went wrong in the processing and I ended up with a very mottled look to the skies. In Lr I pushed some sliders around in an attempt to rid the photo of the mottle and made what you see here. For whatever reason I now quite like it.

It certainly has something. And if it were a perfect shot I suspect that the composition would be boring. As it is the building has a slightly solarised look and the glimpse of a person adds an element of intrigue.
You identified for me what I like about it, Pete. Before you mentioned it I didn’t think about the solarized effect. That’s what I like. Thanks Pete.
