View from my office window

The man in the hat
The Queen's Tower is the most prominent subject when I look out of my office window. This is a building I see almost daily, so sometimes I forget that it's actually a pretty impressive piece of architecture, until I have a moment to stop and observe again.

I have been meaning to take a "nice" photo of it. I happened to have my camera with me yesterday, and this is the result. It was a bright and sunny afternoon. Turning the photo into B/W actually made the scene look a bit dramatic and creepy ;-)

Thanks Pete :-)

The pp was done in Lightroom 3. I increased the clarity to make the patterns on the cloud and the tower more prominent, then increased vibrancy to make sky more blue. Followed by B/W conversion with reduced blue filter to make the blue sky looking dark.

The sky has come out really nice!
A shame really that the buildings in the foreground aren't a little more pleasing on the eye
what about some more angles of the building?

I meant to capture the view from my seat when I look out the window, unfortunately, that means the ugly buildings are also included ;-)

I will try to do it again at a different location on campus to avoid unwanted elements :-)

I actually like the contrast between the old and new buildings - the old still dominates the new, which is cool :)

Love the B&W treatment - very nice, especially the effect on the clouds.
