Visit Oregon's High Cascades

Some stunners there Dennis - especially like the panos which a so effective with such dramatic scenery

Do you use a CPL when shooting your landscapes?

I always love your blogs Dennis. I just wish I had the time to read them properly and do them justice. I like the twisted trees at Broke Top because they are so unusual and also because they seem to be reaching up to that wonderful sky. I have to admit that the scenery is so stunning and on such a large scale that it's almost too much to take in. The closer shots of Broken Top are incredible for the colours. I really like those with the lava in the foreground too :)

I went pretty light on gear for this one and took my canon 5D mkiii and my S4 cell phone. the panos were cell phone shot and most of the landscape was shot with the 17-40 lens. I could have used a longer zoom to isolate and pull in more detail in the distance.

This is really a pretty easy hike as it can be shortened considerable and still see a great deal. It's a very pretty place to visit about now, as the peaks now are capped in snow. On a clear fall day with a dark blue sky and snow capped peaks it's even more stunning than when I was there.

In 2009 I did a hike at a through some of the lakes to a place called Park Meadows. Here is the blog of that trip:http://dennisernst9.wordpress.com/

You can also compare what it looked like this year to a previous trip in 2010: http://dennisernst25.wordpress.com/
