#vogueinstafashion: Their First Instagram Photo Shoot

What is the world coming to?

Vogue hired photographer Michael O’Neal to shoot three fashion stories on nothing but an iPhone - and post them using Instagram.

I can see that this would be an awfully 'trendy' thing to do - very 'down with the kids on the InterTubes', but what do you make of the photography that resulted?

I suspect there was a lot more PP than your usual Instagram shot - so it's not really as 'raw' as they'd like you to believe.

On the bleeding edge, or falling off the edge?

Perfectly fine I guess. The Grand Central shot is the most impressive if not most original I think. I'm not quite sure I get the point of the whole exercise though.

I would have thought the point was fairly clear ... virality ... and it appears to have worked!
Beyond that, yeah ... so what ... photographer uses camera to take photos and posts them on the internet ... .... ....?
If anything, it feels a little behind the curve ... I thought people were starting to get over this "oh wow, it was taken on a phone" thing?
As for the photos themselves, they aren't awe inspiring... but they don't offend!

i'm with Hamish on this, it would appear Vogue are behind the curve on this ..... been done and there is no shock value in iPhone photos with those in the know

Sadly it's lost on me, can't see the point, rather missed the boat if they want to get down with the kids, not exactly trend setting stuff is it? Well not now anyway, as Hamish has said thought all this " it was taken on a phone" thing had ended, but saying that I was shown a copy of National Geographic on Thursday by a friend, where a NG photog went out armed with only a Nokia Lumia 1020 smart phone; so Vogue aren't really the only high profile mag to be exploring the phone thing......http://www.nokia.com/global/experience/photography/nat-geo-lumia1020/
