We went off-road yesterday, (labor day holiday in the US), and took the Vultee Arch Trail out into red-rock country, North of Sedona AZ.
It's called a trail - but really it's just a boulder field that resets your spine a thousand times as you bounce over it!
At the end of the 4x4 accessible trail is the trailhead for a hike - dominated by this huge Limestone bluff.
Further towards Sedona, the landscape has more of the Red Rock in it, and the trail is red as well - now I know what the Mars Rover feels like!
Here's a panoramic that gives you a better feel for the landscape
