Walls With Windows

You've got this abstract malarkey to a knack haven't you Paul.
Very impressive!

Yep very good set Paul . always something very alluring about the rectangular shapes fitting to the rectangular of the photo. Or in some case the Square of the photo.:)

Thank you Dan , Julian. Being compositionally challenged these recent project have been as much a learning exercise as anything else. Looking at some thing and standing there until I get the best composition that I can has really helped me to think more before I press the button. A few times I have come away and not liked what I got so if the place was local I go back another day and do it all again.

Been there...done that. Someone once told me that there is one advantage to OCD...you get more exercise. ;)

One thing I notice quite clearly is it takes me a while in a place to settle in, then definitely the mood changes as you see what is there and how to represent it at it's best. Bit like the old saying 'getting in the zone'

I really like the middle one - I think it is much stronger compositionally than the other two. I also think it would make a fantastic B&W with some appropriate contrast manipulation. I love the sloping road and the hobbit-size door :) The more I look at it, the more interesting things I see.

The 27mm pancake predates the 23/1.4 and 40-45mm has been a traditional focal length for pancake lenses, at least for SLR's. Nikon made a 45mm and Voigtlander (really Cosina) has a very nice 40m.

As I recall, the gig against the Fuji pancake is the bokeh - it is supposed to be rather busy compared to the other XF lenses. I think I'm remembering that correctly o_O

Thanks Keith. The 27mm while not as good as the 23mm which just seems like a fantastic chunk-o-glass is a lens I am quite happy with. Definitely wins on the pocket storage front. I have considered buying the 23mm and 60mm but have held off for now.
