watkins glen gorge abstract

another from watkins glen. a bit more abstract, but i liked the patterns and curves carved into the rock. you'd think it would just be a straight line cut into the shale rather than curvy.

did something a bit different this time in processing the image. did the b&w bit in lightroom rather than using nik silver efex. then in ps used nik color efex reflector efex filter (gold reflector) for the sepia toning. set the blending mode to color.

Wow, that's cracking! Nice PP on this one.
Do you care sharing? :)

thanks all. dan i'm no where near my computer, but i'll check my setting tonight and give you a more thorough description. the sepia processing was described above, but the lightroom b&w conversion was done with contrast, a very warm white balance and moving the saturation slider to -100. i never use the grayscale button at the top.

I also like the abstract view of the Glen in the image. Another good job!

thanks glen and julian. julian, i was more than pleased to shoot somewhere that wasn't delaware. getting shots i was happy with is just the icing on the cake.

lightroom settings:
wb - 8100 (up from 4750)
contrast - +54 (set for blacks and whites)
highlights adjusted negative shadows adjusted positive to taste
clarity - +20
vibrance - 0
saturation - -100

photoshop:
nik color efex reflector efex (set to make adjustments on a new layer)
method - gold
light intensity - 25%
falloff - 100%
position 100%
source direction - 0 (doesn't really matter)

after clicking ok on nik i changed the layer blending mode to color, left opacity at 100%. resized and sent off to the little man who pulls the strings to make the tubes on the internets work.

Top draw, thanks Beth.
I'm getting well into this sepia/B&W method and wanting to try and experiment and inspire from others with it.
To explain your process thoroughly, is very much appreciated. Thank you :) and well done once again! :)
