Thanks Pete and thanks the word "cistern"Usually a well is a hole cut into the ground to access water from the water table. Their depth is dependent on how far down that is. I guess, technically, this is a cistern. Either way it's a lovely shot. I like the overall 'wetness' and the pattern in the surface of the water. Very nice.
Did u wake up during midnight again? You're welcome.
No. It's 10:30 AM here. Slept right through thanks. Must be late for you though.
thanks LesleyI love this Aldous. The depth of the water with whatever is growing down there. I love the bucket too, with the two different coloured ropes. Very nice
Thanks Ralph. I am not sure whether this is a cistern or a spring, because that location is on desolated island, therefore no one lives there really, people just gone there for hiking during daytime, so I have no idea where's the water came fromHow does the water get into this thing!
Pete used the term Cistern. A cistern usually collects runoff water from some surface and stores it in a tank for later use. Many Montanans use cisterns to store their household water. They fill the cistern from a municipal water supply. Many towns have a spot where people can fill large tanks carried on a truck. They truck the water back home to fill their cistern. Some use the tank on their truck as their cistern.
When I saw the photo I immediately thought it might be a spring. But a spring usually flows continuously so the tank would need an overflow of some sort to channel away excess water,
In any case the photo is nice. I really like the composition, the clear view into the water and the detail surround the opening.
thanks Bethvery nice find. it could just be an old well.
Thanks ChrisLooks so damp and green - very nice
thanks GlennNice shot Aldous. I like the texture and colors...and mystery of the water.
