I had a product shoot today, normal pack shot stuff for web use, so a white background is asked for, the product, body care, lotions and potions, in yes you guessed it, 'white' 'White on White' is always a problem, here are the results.....the client is happy, I am happy, but would always welcome views to help me improve.

Set up.

Lighting Cube
Two Studio Flash Rear - side 45 degree
One Studio Flash Front behind and above Camera position
One Off Camera Flash Gun Rear Centre

Shot at f11 1/125 @ ISO 100 WB 4900K no Exp comp

These are straight out of the camera, no editing or touch up, just convert to Jpeg for upload.

I had to do white tshirts lying on arctic white paper once ... bloody impossible
These look good mate, at the end of the day, if the client is happy, then its a win

The lost tops of the cakes is the only "issue" ... but id not have a clue how to prevent that!

Cheers, the minute you start compensating for the lost highlights you start loosing the colour, have done White Tees and Trousers on White, usually end up editing it out, the cakes are bath bombs, a bit crumbly and foam up when you bite into them. They are the size of a small cup cake, the bottles being only about 100 mm

I agree but sadly this was a shoot and do job, the client wanted a quick job so she can go live, I'm really hoping she calls and says that the Bath Bombs is a little bit... is there anything you can do? she won't I know but I hope she does, I did explain that I would normally do an edit on this type of shoot but she was happy with the on screen preview and had a second and third opinion all of which concurred.

If she is happy that is good but we as photographers are always looking for that little bit more........
