Addy casually watches TV as Roger's body lies where it fell...

I don't think I have shot at 6400iso ... It's impressive!
Lovely shots Chris!
Try telling anyone that square crop doesn't work ... It was the right thing to do im sure of it ;)

Thanks chaps - Addy (the youngest) is developing quite a little personality and look, as she edges towards her 2nd birthday - still hits the house like a tornado though! :D

This was my first go shooting super low light and moving targets with the X100, and I'm very happy with the results. As Hamish pointed out, it's ISO6400 so we have some grain, which has a decent look to it in B&W, and the shots are super sharp at f2.

AF struggled a little in the very low light, with lock taking a couple of attempts in some cases - I played with the size of the AF area (a nice feature on the Fuji) and that seemed to assist the AF lock. Being able to place the AF area pretty much anywhere in the field of view was very useful, and allowed easy off center compositions with accurate focus every time.

The camera is basically silent, so the grandkids played away without really reacting to 'having their photo taken', and not using the flash also kept the intrusion to a minimum.

The live view on the rear screen made composition easier when holding the camera down at kid level, so grandpa didn't have to actually get on the floor to get his shots! ;)

Wonderful series Chris and the first sot is transformed by the title - excellent. Square?, now there's a thing!! And I know what you mean about the high ISO thing. When I first tried the M9 at high ISO my first impression was, "OK, well never mind then!": I had gotten used the D3. However, when you convert to B&W it does look just like pushed HP5 (and you can get some useful colour shots too if you play with noise reduction with care and add some extra grain in PP). It looks to me like the X100 is very similar - except you don't have to wait for the AF of course!! ;) But you would have to crawl around a fair bit - have you ever noticed that I never post pictures of small children!! :)

Give afc a go in low light Chris it can be less frustrating and is def better for moving targets
In afs i have found little benefit in adjusting the focus size, the default seems to be the best

Thanks Hamish - will give it a shot :)
