x-pro 1 and voigtlander 12mm

a couple from a walk around terrapin park in kent island, maryland. just before the storm hit and we got soaked. the first image, oddly enough, is a large ball of wood that washed up. those are footprints in the sand next to it for scale. the second was a teepee someone built out of driftwood.

I like these, they reflect a certain serenity ... i'm not sure if that's what you were going for but it's what I get out of it

It is a strange ball! What is it Beth?

Nice shots. I like the tones in these, especially the first with the slightly more ominous sky.

thank you. i have no idea what the wooden ball was. these were processed in lightroom, the colors come from playing with the camera profile settings, tones from the tone curve. i can't say i was thinking of serenity while i was out shooting, i was thinking more along the lines of "the car's a mile off, the storm isn't, #@$%!, i think i'm going to get wet."

Lol it's only water, whether you went for serene or not I think it's very peaceful

What a kit combo! My eyes are greeeeen
so do you have a film camera to go with that lens?
I have a bunch of CV lenses ... Love them all!

Great shots too, the toning is wonderful!

My guess is that wooden ball is a float used by fisherman in the Cape Verde Islands or someplace like that to support their nets. No,...maybe the Azores, now that I look at a map.

lol, likely the most exotic place the ball came from was tilghman island. chesapeake bay is a pretty big fishing area so it probably was a float or buoy.

Do you shoot film?
I can seriously recommend putting a voigtlander r2a on the back of it! Really nice camera!
And of course you would get to use the lens at its widest ... Which is seriously wide by all accounts!
Pete Askew (who knocks about on here) has one ... He is lucky enough to have a Leica m9 to put it on ... The results are quite stunning!

... Actually, is it the ltm or m version?
If its ltm you could get an old Russian Leica copy rf for probably £25 ... Cheap wide thrills ;)

You've burst the bubble inside which the romantic notion floated! ;)
lol.

These are lovely Beth - especially the first. I like to keep referring back as I comment, but I can't now I'm on page 2. I love the subtle colour, the light on the water and the general understated mood. Very serene :)
thank you lesley.

Not tempted?

wouldn't even know where to begin with film. and no place for my own darkroom. and can't take it to work when i'm on midnights (not like i would ever do anything like that anyway..).

Beth - wonderful shots

Color palette is very beachy, and those skies are super dramatic.

Love the perspective the 12mm lens gives on the X-Pro1 - that ball looks HUGE! :D

Have to ask, how is it for focussing/sharpness etc - and which adapter did you go for?

Good point Hamish! :D
