Got up stupidly early so I could shoot dawn light over the Coronado bridge in San Diego this morning o_O

All shots Fuji X-Pro1 - the pano is with the 23mm lens, the other two are with the 55-200 Lens

Well, that was worth it! Gorgeous. Those last two have a very definite look to them. Almost illustration-like if you know what I mean.
Thanks Pete

Wow! Stupidly early is what we would call a normal time to get up ;)
I think of you every time I haul my lazy butt out of bed in the dark Lesley - I wish I had your planning/tenacity

Here's the same scene taken with the Fuji G617 and some Velvia 50

This was a 1.5 min exposure at f/22 - no center ND Filter

Definitely more vignetting without the Center ND - but I was worried about point reflections from the lights if I left it on

Man I love Velvia! :)

Wonderful light capture Chris. Love those colors.
Now respect your weather...YOU SUCK!
Thanks Glenn - it was freezing this morning - mid 40s in fact - had to put a hoody on! ;)

Thanks Pete

Film was 1.5 min at f/22 ISO50 - you need to stop down on the G617 to get DOF, f/22 seems to be the optimum for DOF and sharpness, although it can go to f/45 and beyond!

Digital was 4 sec at f/8 ISO200 - f/8 seems optimal on the X-Series lenses for resolution vs diffraction, ISO200 is the base ISO on the X-Pro1

Here's the final Velvia shot from the roll - I changed up the post processing to a more subtle look.

This shot also has the center ND filter fitted to even out exposure better - I figured I'd do one with the filter to see the impact - definitely more even across the frame

The orange tone is how the transparency looks on a light box - with PP I could completely correct for that and get a look thats more in line with the WB from the digital image - but then, why use film if you're not accepting it's take on reality?

Here's a WB corrected version of the same frame

Great images, Chris. I actually like the first Velvia shot you posted the best (except for the vignetting - but it is not objectionable).

The sky color in the second downtown shot is unreal!

Grrrr..deserting the UK weather for the west coast...what next!:p:D

My fav is the velvia with the orange tint, before you corrected the WB (where you said you went for a more subtle tone) - that's really really nice. I would get rid of the vignetting on the right but that's just me.

Thanks Glenn - it was freezing this morning - mid 40s in fact - had to put a hoody on! ;)
