Taken some time apart, these are two of my favourite monochrome works. Both taken in the county of Yorkshire, one in 2008 and the other more recently. One taken using a Nikon D70, the other a Nikon D600.
As always, beautiful photos @Shaun Haselden! The first one strikes me the most: the contrast between the enduring stillness of the stone and the ever-changing fluidity of the clouds, with a tree bent by the wind in between, which seems to embody the characteristics of both – the stones and the clouds. The tree as a universal symbol, a link between earth and sky.

Shaun, what did you use taking this shot? I have piers and sunken walkways similar to this near me, and always find I fluff the composition and renders are never quite as I imagine them.
Regardless, mood is one of a lighthouse guide that never returned home.
