it just occurred to me that defocused foregrounds are a lot easier to do with manual focus, I just ignore the green dot indicator and hone in on the subject, the foreground is perhaps unconscious at the time of pressing the tit. yeah, big fan of backlighting/rimlighting. always look for it, maybe to the detriment of other things...
