A short walk in London

Jim Kuo

The man in the hat
I went on a photowalk organised by the photosoc of Imperial College around some touristy locations in London. I didn't think I would enjoy it as I thought photography is quite an individual thing and I would not want to be rushed by other people's schedules.

It turned out to be quite enjoyable little trip, participating in an activity amongst people who share similar interests in photography is quite pleasant. I am now actually looking forward to the photowalk next week :).

Here are a few shots that I find interesting personally.

#1, how big ben is often seen, through the fences

#3, Buckingham Palace through the fences

#4, squirrels at work, busy collecting food for the winter

#5, some aren't afraid of humans at all

Really nice Jim - some very innovative angles - I like the Big Ben shot, and the railing shot.

I did a photo walk (Photo Safari) in Washington DC, and really enjoyed myself.

There's always something new to learn - and as you mentioned, the interaction with other photographers was really fun.

Thanks Paul, Chris and Pete for your kind words :)

I think there was a protest or some sort in front of Westminster Abbey, there was a huge police presence, and the helicopter were there (pretty stationary in the air) before we arrived, presumably monitoring the protesters.

Some great shots there buddy!
I love the one of the squirrel! really really nice... Especially, the slight tension caused by the clenched fist!

Thanks Hamish.

Chasing down those fast moving squirrels using a manual focus lens at f2.8 was quite challenging. I consider those squirrel shots that came out in focus are extremely lucky ones :)

No Pete, she was a tourist enjoying the peace and quiet of the park. I guess she was not expecting to be "attacked" by the squirrel :D

For some reason, they were in hyper crazy mode, they were literally climbing up the legs from person to person desperately seeking for food!

I guess if I stick around long enough, one ought to climb up my legs (outside my trousers). Unfortunately, the group leader was urging us on and we had to move on...

Great shot Jim first and last for me aswell. I once punched a squirrel in the face......... It was so close to me I put my left hand out to stroke it and it decided to pounce on my arm squealing and biting me........ So I gave him a mighty right hook....... A lesson learnt
