A Whale Of A Time At Sea

We decided to brave a rather choppy sea and the chilly air to discover some old friends on their way to the calving grounds...

This one has a tall tail to tell as it goes deep...

The results of the bubble net is a huge amount of fish...

And there's the odd playful jump for joy...

Good bye...

Thanks Tom. The boat was really rocking and rolling so it was extremely difficult to shoot. I was lucky that it was just bright enough to shoot at a high enough speed to get some clarity. There were times where I just let the camera hang while watching these amazing animals.

What a wonderfully atmospheric set Glenn. Love the riot of birds and waves and whales. Super stuff. :)
Thanks Pete. I asked the biologist if the whales ever grab a bird when they are gulping the fish...answer...yes. However they spit them out because their throats are too small to swallow them! Who would of thought that?

Good stuff Glenn. Whale migration season has started here so it may tempt me to go out and watch those magnificent creatures.

What an amazing experience that must have been Glenn...and you've captured it well for everyone to take part in...great stuff.
