Got it together to look at a few pics I took at a recent outing to a Steam Rally Fair where there were many old objects to photos which had worn over the years to create quite nice textures.

Thanks Pete and Brian, it was a side panel of a fire engine. An old one. It did confuse me that this was the only panel with the texture. If to identify it as different or not, I am not sure. The surface seemed like thick paint scratched up.
These pics may help.

Simple hey. By the way if Hamish Looks in. Love the new site structure and behaviour.

It did appear to be a thick paint that was scratched up for some reason, I don't know about this fibre board but the scratches were definitely not fibres. It is a white panel painted green and someone has scratched through the top paint to expose the off white undercoat. The green paint was also blistering in areas. Or at least it looked that way. I wonder maybe if someone over painted a panel and the top coat reacted and did not bond with the undercoat as expected, so they textured it with a stick as a rescue remedy But of course you may well be correct I aught to have touched it at the time to be certain.

Interesting. It does look very similar even down to the type of screw heads used in the fixing. Mine was one all black I guess but over the years has become worn and now the high spots (fibres at the surface) have lost their paint and are now just greyish).

Just seen this. Wonderful abstracts, Julian, especially the second. I would never have guessed what it was, but I'm not at all concerned about that. It just makes a beautiful abstract.

Really nice observation Julian, and very nicely processed and presented

I'm liking the second version for comp

Thanks Chris, a new twist on the processing/ presentation which happened by an accident, but luckily remembered and was repeated, which of course may well turn out to be a fad. Time as I say will always tell.
