An Allegory and Other Stories

From a morning's jaunt to the Edinburgh Book Festival, with the DPOQuattro.

1. There seems to be an allegory in this first image, though I can't figure out what it is:

2. The Book Festival - these tents sprout up for three weeks or so every year:

Not sure I can see the allegory as such but I do like the juxtaposition of the balloons and the spikey cathedral.

Love the sea of trees marching up to the buildings. You can almost hear them beating at the doors. No doubt in protest at the murder that lead to all those books!

The hidden face is brilliant. The Green Man emergent!

I love a nice detail and this is a very nice detail. especially as it appears to be bricked up (or never really there).

Did you buy any books?

No, I didn't buy. I have a small mountain of books at home waiting to be read, including a wonderful publication of the extraordinary life, and photos from the China trips, of Isabella Bird. Amazing woman, the first female photographer in China in the 19th century, and she went on her own at the age of 60. Although English, she spent much of her adult life in Edinburgh.

I remember the tents. I think you had some presented last year and some people and some items in amongst some trees, if I'm not mistaken. I like the 3 first ones more than the others!
