Anyone else order a Pentax 17?

Now that the reviews are out - and seems to be interesting, did anyone else order one?

I preordered mine today - I am not particularly interested in half frame 35mm, but I figured if it sells well maybe we will see more new film cameras. It looks like a good every day carry kinda camera, and at least with 72 shots per roll of 35 I won't need to carry an extra roll of film lol.

Good for you!

I hope so.

Half-frame is a format that has never appealed to me and for that reason alone the Pentax 17 isn't on my short list for future camera purchases. I applaud Pentax (or should I say Ricoh...?) for putting the effort into making a new film camera, though. I'll be interested to know how you like it once you've shot a roll or two. I think it's basically a point and shoot so should be fun for snapshots around town and such.

Thats what I think it's main use case will be for me - just an "out and about" fast/easy snapshop camera. Kinda a "spray and pray" style shooting.

But shooting two rolls means 144 exposures... I get anxious with a roll of 36 so I'm only shooting 24 (in 35) or 10 or 12 on 120. Allows me to remember what's on the beginning of the roll...

I would if I had 500 quid to spare 😄... Not that I don't think it's worth it but just I'm not shooting film at present and am a little tight on funds. I have a job now so maybe down the line a bit...

But I think Pentax did well.

P.S. did anyone see this ad from the Australian Pentax distributor? Spot the mistake... I commented on it and they changed it😁1000010234.png

I got shipping notification for mine, it is on the way! Should be here Wednesday. I don't need another camera as I have way to many - but I am excited for this one.

Pentax released a press statement a couple days ago saying they are basically sold out, and they had so many preorders / orders that they may not be able to fill them all. This is a good thing, as they have said if this one was a success they will venture out into making several different film cameras.

Now just to wait for the Rollei (Mint) 35af that is due out at the end of the year.

It arrived today - so now to see if I can blast through 72ish frames today so I can develop tonight and see what it looks like! First impressions are quite good.

Here are a few from the first roll. These were "test shots" so not much effort was put into making them "good" - just seeing what the camera was like. I scanned these with my home-made rig using a Lumix G9 w/ Olympus 30mm Macro and converted them with Negative Lab Pro's standard profile (no adjustments or edits other than crop.) Overall I am quite happy with how the pics turned out.
