Attacked by a Canadian...

During my walk this morning I ran into a newly hatched Canadian Geese family...I was trying to get a shot of mom protecting her babies...without any success I might add...

Then...out of the corner of my eye I see this little one charging at me...

It came right up to me and stopped just before it knocked me over...;)

Thanks Rob.

I try to walk everyday...try to get at least 10000 steps...5 miles. I use a fitbit (Fitbit) to keep track...most I've done is 12.4 miles. I do pretty well until it gets hot...then force myself to use our treadmill which I hate...but hate the heat more.

Beth...Shhh...I'm married to one. The angle was caused by me falling back as the little sucker kept getting closer. :o

Thanks Pete...Anyone that has an encounter with a protective Canadian Goose knows that it can be scary. This little one is going to be something when it grows up.

Canadians eh! :D

Lovely shot Glenn - nice backlighting

I got bitten by a mummy goose once - not to be advised! :(

I too like to walk every day - I try to do 4 miles a day and have a couple of routes around home which include some significant elevation changes.

It's changed my life in a very positive way - well worth the effort, and time I enjoy listening to music.

I walk every day too. I used to run, but shin-splints put a stop to that. I've been walking every day for about 15 years. I probably miss no more than 20 days per year. I walk very fast, for 3-4 miles, depending upon available time. If I don't walk I really feel it. I know the exercise is good for me, but I also simply like being outside for some fresh air. Between home, car, transit, and office I otherwise am indoors way too much.

My wife is in traing for El Camino De Santiago (Way of St. James - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), so now I am walking twice a day to help her along.

As much as I love the cute fella in #3, I do really love the light in the first shot and how you've focussed it.

Thanks Andrew...I was struggling with the shot. I tried it everyway...on many settings. The sun was right behind...and the mom kept trying to get closer and between me and her babies.

I'm not surprised you were wary of the mom, I nearly had a run-in with a swan a few months back, it was getting really close I think it was expecting bread. You don't realise how big they are until you're crouched with a camera and one marches towards you. I could've got a great shot if I hadn't bottled it, but I also could've got my arm broken if things had got nasty.
