Black and White

Learned today that there are still 4,000 people in the UK who still purchase a Black and White TV license every year. Amazing. And recently there was a TV ad for a football match which was entirely in black and white. It looked wonderful on our TV screen. Black and White is not dead. I've been trying to find out how to switch the colour off on our TV, but haven't managed it yet.

Off to London for a few days. Shots to follow, maybe even in black and white :)

Its always fun when I was told that when black and white TVs were the main option for TVs when the snooker was on they had to inform the watcher what the player had just hit lol :D

I had a B&W TV up until the late 80s and then only because a friend gave it to me (and then only because he was fed up with the conversation that went, "Did you see X on TV last night?" followed by my reply of, "No, I haven't got a TV!"). I bought a small colour one when that packed up but when that died (about 12 years ago) I didn't replace it. Now I only watch the odd thing on the BBC iPlayer in the UK and watch DVDs on a laptop! In Germany we do have a TV but only watch DVDs on it.

I guess films like sin city work pretty well in black and white

pleasantville is mainly b&w before selectively turning colour

I was just thinking of that moment when Dorothy opens the door into a world of colour. It must have been amazing to view that when it first came out. Now I'd like to see the reverse! The Wizard of Zo!

Just wondering what would be the best software set up in the X-E1 (or XPro1, for that matter) for later conversion to B&W?
