I can only say, SUPERB Dave. I just got a macro lens myself just now. Got to try it out soon.

Yes they;re fascinating critters. This one is the UK's smallest dragonfly species at about 30mm long. As I walked into the wildflower meadow at least 100 took off buzzing round me! This one seemed quite interested in my lens - iPhone pic
