Love the flying sparks in the first one, Daz. Tasteful selective colouring in no. 2 - gives the impression of a cold smithy but red hot iron.
 
Yep - love the sparks on the first shot - adds a nice feeling of action

Lighting is really good as well - very moody
 
i too really like the first one, perfectly timed shot! im never 100% sure about the b/w colour thing... but i can see why you would do it for the second one!

i wouldnt print an image like this i dont think....but for arty fart fun it looks good on screen IMO.........lol

i have done it myself before, i wouldnt shun it, it has its place ... im just not sure about it :)
i think its because i like to think that everything i do would have been possible in a dark room... and im not sure that that is... you follow my meaning?
 
yup i undertsand what your saying hamish........haha

( dark rooms are way before my time.....CS4 is my dark room lol )
