I have no experience of this sort of photography. Very hit-and-miss. Literally!
The fact that it was dark, with no light anywhere made focusing rather hard. I used live view magnified on a car (I think) in the distance that showed for a minute.
This was the only acceptable shot out of around 25. Each a 30 second exposure...

Definitely was and I like that the lightning doesn't dominate the shot. The same method I use as well. Lots of longing exposures anticipating that one at least will capture it.

Not quite the effect we were discussing, but done the same anyway. There should be some more somewhere. I'll keep looking.

Storm over Venice

Taken last night during a thunderstorm over Venice from the hotel balcony. Unfortunately just sheet lightning but it still gave some impressive light. Leica M9 + Zeiss 18mm Distagon f1:4.0. Camera tripod mounted, ISO 160, 8s at f1:4.0. PP in LR and Nik ColorFX 4 and Viveza.
