Bought A Film Camera

just bought a functioning canonet ql17 on ebay to replace the dead fujica 35 se. i couldn't find any fully functioning fujica 35 se's on ebay. i read up a bit on battery replacement options for this canonet since the original battery is no longer available. seems like there are a couple of viable options.s.

Very nice little camera, Beth. The battery in mine is a 1.5V alkaline. Brand and model are: Varta V 625 U.

By the way, I've missed a couple of shots due to the fact that when the camera on Automatic (red "A" on the lens barrel, which puts it in shutter-priority mode) and it thinks the lighting conditions are beyond its ability to cope, it disables the shutter release. (Locks it, actually.) It's happened to me twice and both times I'm like "What the...!?" and missed a cracking shot. Of course, you can use it in any lighting conditions in manual mode.

thanks bryan. the olympus trip i have does that too. pretty annoying. i was looking at the 625a battery, 1.5v like you say, but the wisdom of the internet says 1.5v batteries overpower the meter so the iso should be set to half. not sure how true that is. i was planning on shooting it in manual mode.

That may be, Beth. But print film is so forgiving you may not even notice it.

Nice camera Beth!

I've used the Wein MRB625 battery for the Canonet - they work, but don't last very long FWIW - so buy two at a time!
